Edgewood requires a building permit for tents.

I was surprised when I recently learned the City of Edgewood requires a building permit for temporary structures including tents. This means if you want to put up a tent, technically you need a building permit. Want to store your car or boat in one of those temporary canopies? You need a permit.

The City suggests it for your own good and the safety of others. What if we have an earthquake? A windstorm? Too much snow? It’s for your own good.

There is an exception. If the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet, they’ll graciously not require a trip to the building department.

Gotta keep those city workers employed.
