There are still many people raising animals in Edgewood and many dog owners are unaware of the state regulations. According to RCW 16.08.020 your dog may be lawfully killed if it attacks stock animals.

I’ve had incidents of dogs attacking and killing my sheep. In the past I’ve called the police, who in turn call the Humane Society – rather than kill the dog. I know other stock owners bypass the bureaucracy and just (lawfully) kill the dog.

We had a number of attacks, several by a beautiful husky who learned how to climb under a fence. It isn’t the dogs fault. It’s instinct. I blame the irresponsible owner who let their dogs roam freely.

Please take care of your dog. I like dogs. Always had one. I don’t want to see yours killed.
